Efficient hole enlargement while drilling c/w on-demand hydraulic activation. The Rock’s Multicycle Hydraulic drilling Reamer enables the operator to simultaneously drill and ream generally below the casing. The Multicycle Hydraulic drilling Reamer is capable of drilling the float. Once below the shoe, the Multicycle Hydraulic drilling Reamer is activated by dropping ball for reaming operations. Drop another ball to deactivate reamer and restore the tool back to original status which all the fluid circulates to bit again and the block will not be actuated with the circulation.
The Multicycle Hydraulic drilling Reamer’s blocks are hydraulically actuated. Hydraulic differential pressure acts on a piston that drives the cutter blocks open on Z-drives. When the piston chamber opens for cutter block deployment the drilling fluid will flow out of the jet nozzles, providing a pressure drop which indicates at surface that the reamer is open. The weight applied when downreaming acts on the geometry of the Z-drive to maintain the blocks in the open position.
The Reamer uses a threaded sleeve inside the bore of the tool to adjust opening diameter. Limiting the distance the cutter block can traverse dictates the opening diameter within the designed range. When Pumping Stops, the cutter blocks retract. Dependable retraction of the cutter blocks help avoids stuck BHAs.
Features:
• On-demand multi-activation within specific intervals for problem prevention.
• Multi-cycle hydraulic activation/deactivation with 5-10cycles.
• Reliable hydraulic actuation to ensure a full-gauge concentric wellbore.
• Dependable cutter block retraction to avoid stuck BHAs.
• Aggressive PDC cutter blocks for higher ROP in a wide range of formation types.
• Integral back-reaming capability to ensure construction of a full-diameter bore.
Application
• Shoe-track drilling when cement must be cleared from casing.
• Post-shoe-track drilling in formations that require enhanced stabilization.
• Hole enlargement while drilling.
